Tree Planting at Cedar Park

Tree Planting at Cedar Park- 1 Cedar Street, Ajax

Sunday, October 2nd from 2-4 pm

You may have noticed that Cedar Park lost many trees this past Spring.  This was due to the invasive Emerald Ash Bore beetle that is impacting all Ash trees in Ajax.

A young Mosquito-aged player, Jack C, noticed the lack of trees in the park and decided to contact the Mayor of Ajax, Steve Parish, to see if something could be done about the situation.

He connected Jack to the Town of Ajax's Sustainability & Forestry staff who already hoped to replant many of the lost trees. Together they picked a date and now need your assistance to replant trees at Cedar Park.

The Town of Ajax will be out at Cedar Park with all the supplies necessary (including gloves and shovels) to replant 10-15 mature trees.

We need approximately 30 volunteers to come out that day to assist in preparing the ground for these newest additions to a park we all love. Town of Ajax staff are also able to allocate high school volunteer hours for their participation

Please use the following link to register yourself and your family for this event. You will receive a confirmation email of your registration.  A waitlist will be created should we receive more registrations then required.

August 19-21, 2016 Minor Mosquito EOBA Playoffs - winning team Ajax Spartans Minor Mosquito

August 19-21, 2016 Mosquito EOSBA Playoffs - second place team Ajax Spartans Mosquito Select

August 19-21, 2016 Minor Midget EOBA Playoffs - winning team Ajax Spartans Minor Midget

Ajax Spartans Pee Wee Select Team wins the EOABA PlayDowns at the Sportsplex in Ajax. It was a crazy game that lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes and Ajax came out on top with a 19-18 win!

Congratulations to the Ajax Midget Select Spartans for an exciting win at the Burlington "Dog Days of Summer" midget tournament (August 5th-7th, 2016). True to the tournament's title, the teams faced sweltering heat and relentless sun all week-end long. The tournament champion Spartans faced particularly stiff competition from host team Burlington Bulls, and a spirited come-back attempt by the Seaway Surge during the finals on their way to their first tournament win. Excited by his young team's success, Coach Steve Rudback credited the victory on his team's "top to bottom" hitting and clutch pitching efforts

The Mosquito Pickering/Ajax Cubs won the AAA London Badgers tournament this weekend, going undefeated in a very entertaining weekend of baseball.  When all was said and done, we outscored the competition 42-18 over five games, highlighted by dominant pitching, a great offense and a defense that was good enough.

After opening the tournament with an 11-1 win over London on Friday night, the team went on to play to a tough 4-4 tie with Vaughn and then outhit Windsor on the way to a 9-6 win to closeout the round robin.  In the semi-finals, the team didn't play their best but solid pitching and a focus on doing the little things at the plate earned the boys a hard fought 7-6 win in front of a very cocky and vocal Milton team who had already clinched their spot in the final.  It didn't take long for their tone to change however after we put up 3 runs in the first on our way to an 11-1 championship win.

Congratulations to all of the players and coaches!
